7 estufas en un espacio de 15 mts.
16 monitores de TV
8 pares de audífonos
cientos de radiografías de diferentes partes del cuerpo. Una luz al centro ilumina la estufa principal, del techo cuelga una gran cuchara. Huele a caldo de pollo, a grasa y fritanga humana.
En los audios entrevistas a diferentes personas de diferentes origenes y razas. Las preguntas giran en torno a la falta de agua en el planeta, la escaces de comida y agua, el sobrecalentamiento de la tierra y como ve cada uno el futuro cercano en el contexto de la gobalización. En el video, imágenes del estado de las cosas en el planeta hoy en día.
E l árbol de la vida - The Tree of Life
Un gran árbol metalico de tamaño natural (12 mts por 4 aprox.) sostiene entre sus ramas unos 150-300 monitores de televisión de formato pequeño. Al árbol se puede entrar, en su interior vemos el agua original y el sonido de los otros animales con quienes compartimos el planeta. El tema de la instalación es el de la inmigración, la transculturización y la adaptación a una nueva cultura. Esto es, la historia de la gente que se mueve de un lado a otro básicamente para sobrevivir al hambre, la persecución, la amenaza o las pocas posibilidades de desarrollo. Al igual que lo hacen los peces o los pájaros que viajan kilómetros y kilómetros de un árbol a otro para sobrevivir en el invierno.
From the Tree of Life . . . Then, what about me ?
Trees play a vital role in human life and symbolize life itself in many cultures. For the Maya, the World Tree expresses the very essence of existence. Also called the Tree of Life, its solid trunk and leafy branches reside in our human realm, running through the world’s center. Its roots go down into the watery underworld and its upper branches reach into the heavens, holding up the starry sky. For the Christian-Jewish tradition, a tree also plays a prominent role, bearing fruit that brings self knowledge and the dilemma of morality to Adam and Eve. And, for many cultures, genealogical trees have come to illustrate human histories as trees with roots and trunks and branches that grow abundant as time passes. However, one must remember that trees have taken on mythic and metaphoric dimensions because they are also living organisms that give us life-giving oxygen, shade, fruit and shelter. From the Tree of Life is a multimedia installation seeking to embrace these differences and the commonalities that unite us.
Installation Description : The tree will stand approximately eight feet tall. Trunk and branches will be made of metal and reside in a room with green-painted walls and lit with four green spotlights. Leaves will consist of photographs of varying sizes and about four dozen palm-sized video monitors. The snapshots, representing a diversity of faces, will be gathered in partnership with several Boston-area community organizations. Video interviews conducted by the artist will feature people from a wide array of cultural/ethic/religious/political groups. Ten or twelve separate audios in many languages will speak about individual experiences, feelings about the new millennium, and a variety of other topics. Sensors, connected in two computers, installed in a circle on the floor around the tree will trigger individual audio segments as people approach. Video monitors set up in the corners of the room will air segments of the video interviews. The installation will be linked to an Internet Web page, where visitors can play short video and audio segments. The trunk will have a door cut into one side, which will allow spectators to enter. Inside, a bench will seat one person at a time. Beneath the feet, under a sheet of plexiglass, will sit a video monitor displaying a stream of running water. A video projector fixed on the tree wall above the bench will throw video images of sky and clouds onto the ceiling of the small room. The water and the sky will find reflection on the silvery interior walls. Sounds of birds, jungle animals, domesticated animals such as dogs and cats, whales and dolphins and other creatures will comprise the audio inside the tree.

Visión lúdica del hombre fragmentado hasta los huesos.
Instalación de con tres espacios; frente, debajo y laterales. Las radiografías cuelgan de las paredes traseras y bajan poco a poco hasta los pies del hombre que se mira adentro.
4 monitores de TV montados sobre pedestales
1 par de zapatos usados dentro de un círculo
y aprox. 2000 radiografias iluminadas de manera especial con luz roja, luz negra y luz blanca.
El espectador puede caminar alrededor de la pieza y entrar a ella por la parte trasera. Dos monitores miran hacia afuera y los otros dos hacia la cara interior de la instalación.
